Sr. Regulatory and Environmental Specialist

Role Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental and regulatory compliance in the energy industry
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Strong internet research skills using federal, state, municipal and legal websites and databases
  • Strong writing skills, including technical writing and preparation of public presentations
  • Ability to work and solve problems independently as well as in teams
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, environmental resource maps, property documents, basic GIS mapping tools
  • Fluency in standard programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge of Smartsheet project management tool a bonus
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills and attention to detail
  • Salary Range $75,000 - $95,000 depending on experience

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement environmental and regulatory compliance strategies for hydropower projects
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address environmental and regulatory issues
  • Provide guidance on environmental best practices and sustainability initiatives
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and advocate for regulatory changes to support sustainable energy development
  • Draft permit applications for federal, state and municipal agencies
